It’s time for my monthly Wrap Up and TBR post!
The aim of this reading game is to help me read more books and hopefully get on top of the ever-growing To Be Read pile. The more books I read, the more books I can buy. The more books I can buy, the more books I can read. It’s a win-win, right?

College is continuing to take over my life. I know I didn’t have much of a life to begin with, but still. I’m happy to say that I passed my second assignment, meaning I have passed the first module of the course. Yay! At the time of writing, I waiting to hear back on the first assignment for the second module, and I’ll be honest, I dreaded handing it in. I wrote three separate versions of it and I didn’t like any of them. Lol. Again, I am surprised to see how much I actually did read in April as it genuinely feels like I’ve only read 1 or 2 books.
Book of the Month
It is very easy to pick my book of the month for April, seeing as it was my only 5* read. I was quite stressed out about college in April, which had an affect on my motivation to read; I kept picking up a book and then putting it down after a few pages. Whilst I was in the hairdressers, I opened up My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing on my Kindle on a complete whim… and then that was it. I genuinely could not put my Kindle down and gobbled up the entire book within 4 hours or so. Let me tell you, it was 99p well spent. If you haven’t read it yet, you need to get on it now.
Considering we’re nearly halfway through the month, I debated whether it was worth setting myself a TBR. In the end, I decided it was worth doing, even if I only read one out of three.
Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez | A Good Time To Be a Girl by Helena Morrissey | Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
One book I have been SO excited for was Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez; I practically camped outside my local library waiting for it to come in. Highlighting all the ways women have been excluded in society, from medicine trials to crash test dummies, Invisible Women has been incredibly eye opening and I am only halfway through. I will report back once I have finished.
A book I’ve been reading for literally months is A Good Time To be a Girl is Helena Morrissey. I’ve had it on loan from the library for so long they’re now refusing to renew it online. I was about halfway through when I put it down and I haven’t had the motivation to pick it back up again. I am debating whether to sign up to an Audible trial and listen to it as an audiobook – what do you guys think?
Finally, a book I have also abandoned is Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus. This was supposed to be a buddy read with Ellen from The Star Jar but because I was taking so long to read (thanks, college!) I had to admit defeat and let Ellen move on. I’m sorry, Ellen! I was so hyped up for this book when it was first released, but its now been so long since I read it I can’t even remember what has happened. I might have to start all over again…
What will you be reading in May?
