It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday! We’re almost one month into 2019, and the books are already piling up. Why did I choose 2019 as the year I went back to college? I need my free time more than ever! *wails dramatically* This week’s prompt is all about the most recent additions to our to-read lists, and considering I add new books to my Want To Read shelf daily, I had no trouble picking my top ten.
At the top of my TBR is Fierce Fragile Hearts by Sara Barnard. I literally cannot put into words how excited I am for this book, and any words that I can think of will need to be saved for my review. Sorry.
As a big fan of the Geek Girl series, I was over the moon to hear that a new Holly Smale series was on the horizon. Happy Girl Lucky is the first book in a series focusing on the famous Valentine family, and I can’t help but have high hopes for it. I’ll keep you posted!
I could kick myself for not joining Readers First sooner, and one of my recent “wins” from the site was the new novel from Phyllida Shrimpton, The Colour of Shadows. This story follows Saf, who discovers that her dad has been keeping a big secret from her. Colour me intrigued!
I very much enjoyed You Only Live Once by Jess Vallance when I read it last year, and I was delighted to be sent the second book in the series, To Be Perfectly Honest, by the wonderful team at Hot Key Books. I can’t wait to start this within the next few days, and be reunited with the one and only, Gracie Dart.
After stressful days at the office, I often find myself in Waterstones. When I spotted that copies of Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus were available, I just couldn’t help myself. I remember being absolutely hooked reading Karen’s debut, One Of Us Is Lying, so I am hoping to relive that feeling once again.
I am terrible for giving into hype, and one of the most hyped books this year has to be The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Considering I haven’t read a thriller so far this year *wink* I need to get my hands on a copy as soon as I possibly can.
The Binding by Bridget Collins is yet another book I have been hearing lots about, so I am feeling quite smug that I got in there first and grabbed a copy from my local library – no long waiting lists for me! I should probably start it soon…
A book that nearly escaped my attention is In At The Deep End by Kate Davies, but thanks to Twitter, I was alerted to its presence. I am feeling very grateful to have been approved for a copy through Netgalley, and from the early reviews I have read so far, I should expect pure filth. I cannot wait.
I have been saving up my Readers First points for a book I really wanted, and one has finally come along: The Familiars by Stacey Halls. A story about Witches? YES PLEASE! If you need me, I will be waiting by my letterbox.
Finally, I can never resist a Sophie Kinsella book, and I was excited to hear a new book was in February. Even though her last book was a little bit disappointing, I am still going to pick up a copy of I Owe You One. I better hurry up and get my name on that library waitlist…
